Waterloo Road

June 26, 2011

I loved you once
When I kissed you in Annapolis.
The penguin from Main Street.
Your tears on my shirt.
My heart and yours connected.
Your thoughts more subjected.
Your father dejected.
My mother perplexed.
You came and left a stain
Like coffee on these cheap seats.
You are still missed
Even though I dread the thought of your lips.
I want the Waterloo road days to return again.
Sixteen candles and Riesling.
Not like the Georgetown days
Tequila and sorrow drench the rooms I laid.
